THE FARM REVEALS EXCITING PLANS FOR 2019

Expanded Ice Cream Dairy, Tipi Seating, New Arrivals and a whole lot of building!

Take a look at the programme for plans and visitor experiences in 2019.

The large-scale programme includes the arrival of previously unseen species at the farm – including New Arrival Llamas. The animals will inhabit the farm’s new The Paddocks enclosures which opened in 2018.

During Spring, from March 2019, new ice cream equipment will be installed at the farm. The specially designed equipment will mean the ice cream churning team will be even busier during 2019 making even more yummy ice cream which will be available at the farm park as well as some of the top restaurants and eateries within the north west.

The extensive investment in new equipment is part of a major long-term plan to transform the farm’s ice cream production and support the dairy farm in a time of uncertainty around British farming.

2019 will also see a range of hands-on conservation events for families to explore and learn from.

Opening in March, Lambing Live will see the farm become home to hundreds of expecting mothers and bouncing baby spring lambs. Opening for spring at one of the busiest times in the farming calendar means there will be lots happening this spring.

Eric Dowson, Managing Director at Mrs Dowsons, said:

2019 is set to be a special year for us.

The new ice cream equipment will help us to continue our award winning ice cream and production right here on the farm, including providing more jobs for our local community as well as amazing ice cream for some of the North Wests top restaurants and chefs.

As an working farm, it is vital that we also continue to engage visitors and educate about real life on a working farm in such a changing time. We hope to bring visitors closer to the animals than ever before, bringing them onto the farm more and more wherever possible. People will not forget this experience. By inspiring a life-long connection to farming, we hope to create the next generation of farmers and veterinarians. There are plenty more experiences to inspire learning and play in 2019.

And before all this, the farm will become over-run with Lambing Live.

We were humbled to greet more visitors in 2018 than at any time in Mrs Dowsons growing history. Every person through our gates helps to support local farms and our education programme. We look forward to welcoming each and every visitor back again in 2019.
