Livestock Handler / Stock Person

Mrs Dowsons Farm Park are looking for a livestock handler/stock person to join a team assisting in providing a high standard of care to a variety of animals and caring for and milking a small dairy herd as part of the farm park experience.

​

The Role

.

Duties to include (but not limited to)

• Preparation of feeds & daily feed run operations

• Cleaning out of animal paddocks and enclosures

• Closely monitoring animal health and well-being 

• Maintaining safe, clean, warm and dry environments for the animals

• The ability to speak confidently to an audience of general public while milking the cows.

• A genuine interest in animal welfare 

• Practical hands-on and hard-working approach to work 

• Capable to carry out manual handling 

• Ability to work alone and within a team 

• Good communication skills

• Experience of outdoor working in all Seasons 

• Excellent time-keeping and attendance to work

• A driving licence is desirable for the ability to drive a Tractor/trailer

Position Requirements

​

Quite simply, you'll be working in our fast-moving, high energy environment and we’re looking for a genuine smile plus an ability to connect with visitors and make them feel valued. This post is for those able to work weekends and school holidays, starting before 9 am and being able to work up to 7 pm, as part of a rota.

Effective communication skills such as attentive listening, face-to-face verbal communication and eye contact are a must. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential. Finally, your appearance should be smart, clean and approachable.
